Places to Stay in Puerto Rico

Which Hotel or Apartment is the Best for You?

Jul 17, 2008 Liz Correal

Puerto Rico, in Gran Canaria, has a varied array of hotels, including some all-inclusive and many self catering apartments ideal for families.

Check Accessibility

When considering a holiday in the sunny, family resort of Puerto Rico, one of the most important factors that it’s necessary to take into account is the rugged landscape. If you suffer from any type of mobility difficulty, it is wise to make sure that your hotel or apartment is easily accessible before you make the reservation.

Take a Taxi

If you stay in the lower parts of the resort; expect either, to have to use the stone steps that lead down to the beach or shopping centre, or to make the long hike around the winding roads down to the harbour area where the boat cruises sail from. Taxi services within the urbanisation itself are very economical and readily available, and so unless you’re planning a `get fit´ style break, then they’re quite probably an essential expense.

Which to Choose; An Apartment or a Hotel

The main type of accommodation in the resort is self catering apartments; which are basic, but ideal for a cheap, family get-away. As eating out in any of the many restaurants in Puerto Rico is still a reasonably priced affair, it’s not necessary to think that you’ll be tied to the stove in the sunshine. If you are searching for something a little more deluxe, then opt for one of Puerto Rico’s luxury installations.

Quality Self Catering Apartments

The Altamar Apartments; has an excellent situation in the higher part of Puerto Rico, away from the noise of the main shopping centre and with fantastic uninterrupted sea views. The complex is focused on families, with well planned swimming pools and extra activities for the children during the summer months. This huge block of apartments is renovated yearly to maintain its reputable standards.

Another popular choice for families over the last few years is the El Eden apartments; they provide a good entertainment program for the youngsters; that means stressed parents get to make the most of their holiday time.

All Inclusive Hotels

The growing trend in all-inclusive holidays is a good way to really relax, get away, and not even have to think about your spending money.

In the last three years, two new, four star hotels have been built in Puerto Rico and another by the Dunas Hotel Chain on the beach called Playa de Amadores.

The huge, RIU Hotel Vistamar, is a luxury installation that offers the very popular all-inclusive holiday option as well as all the top class amenities associated with a four star hotel.

In the Hotel Gloria Palace Amadores, Puerto Rico has its own built in spa and wellness centre. So if a little bit of pampering is top of the list, this beautiful state of the art hotel could be a good selection.
