Sioux City Show in Gran CanariaA Barbeque at the Wild West Town or a Family Day Out with the Kids?If fun and entertainment is a priority on the agenda, then Sioux City is an all round must for either a day visit or the evening barbeque and show, when in Gran Canaria.
Sioux City Wild West Night BarbequeEvery Friday evening, all through the year, hordes of coaches arrive at the entrance of Gran Canaria’s old Wild West town, depositing the guests for a night of fun and entertainment in pure cowboy style. The enormous, help-yourself barbeque is a fantastic spread and with the added enticement of a night long, free bar there really is no need for an excuse to enjoy yourself. Country Music Starts the NightAt Sioux City the evening’s entertainment starts with John Fahy, the resident Irish singer, who performs many popular country and western songs in the saloon bar. You can also catch John, down at Dunes and Tunes, his bar on the beach. Stunts Performed to ThrillThe main cowboy spectacular then follows in the huge, specially constructed, arena where everyone is guaranteed a good seat. Can-can girls, stampeding bulls, bank robberies and then the final showdown which is performed by some great old professionals, who throw in some bone crunching stunts just to thrill the crowds. Line Dancing FunIt really is a full night of diversion, and with left time for more line dancing in the saloon bar before the evening comes to a close. The can-can girls join in to give a helping hand to those who have been gifted with two left feet; after a night of drinking, it’s seems to be quite a common ailment. A Day Out for All the FamilySioux City is open six days of the week, from Tuesday through to Sunday all year round. The main gates open at ten o’clock each morning and close at five in the afternoon. The entrance price is incredibly economical both for adults and children; it’s probably one of the best priced days out to be found in Gran Canaria. Horse Riding and Mini ZooWhat makes it such a good family day are the many different fun activities available inside the Wild West town. Horse riding along the main street in true cowboy style, is a favourite optional extra. The mini zoo has many different animals, from ponies to fat bellied pigs and free ranging poultry to goats, more than enough to keep the children happy. Creepy Crawly Reptile HouseThe newest attraction that has been added to Sioux City is the "yuck factor" reptile house. With the sinister scorpions, hairy spiders, lizards and a photogenic boa-constrictor that will smile at the camera with those who are willing to get close enough. Action Packed ShowsDuring the day time the shows start just after midday and continue periodically all through the afternoon. Some, such as the knife throwing and rope tricks, take place inside the shady saloon bar. While the big bank robbery shoot out and bull run takes place down the main street, watch out for Indian Joes fantastic horse riding stunts and the spooky hanging. An excellent family fun day out.
