- Lake Iseo
In response to Less Well Known Destinations posted by karenbryan: I agree completely. While I love Lake Como's dramatic scenery and villas, the experience on Lake Iseo is far more Italian, with lower prices and without the crowds. My favorite places are Monte Iseo (Europe's largest lake island, home to an active fishing community) and the Medieval frescoes in the little churches at the north of the lake. And farther north is the Valle Comonica, with a national park filled with hundreds of Bronze Age rock inscriptions. A lot to see there, and some pretty dramatic scenery of its own -- including towns perched on high cliffs above the lake.
Karen, your guide to Lake Iseo is excellent, and I highly recommend it!
