In response to Tomb of St. Paul Now Visible posted by franfolsom:

The tomb is still deeply encased in the foundation mortar of each of the various buildings that has stood here, and only one end is visible so far. Yes, tey will continue working to uncover it, but it's a long job because its actually built into the foundations on which the huge altar stands. To complicate things, the altar s covered by one of the few things remaining after the fire in the 1800s -- a magnificent canopy. So tehy can't do anything to disturb that, of course. As to te tomb remaining in the church, it certainly will, for historical and religious reasons, not to mention the physical prolems of trying to move it.
